G&L Tribute Series Superhawk™ Jerry Cantrell Signature Model Gets Gold Award from Guitar World

The May issue of Guitar World includes a review of the G&L Tribute® Series Superhawk™ Jerry Cantrell Signature Model. G&L worked closely with the Alice In Chains axeman to create this surprisingly affordable version of the Superhawk and the results are fantastic. Guitar World agrees. Reviewer Eric England awards the G&L Tribute® Series Superhawk™ Jerry Cantrell Signature Model the Guitar World Gold Award. You can read the full review by clicking here.

G&L offers three Tribute® Series Jerry Cantrell Signature Models. The Rampage®, Superhawk™ and Superhawk™ Deluxe.

Rampage®: Rampage shares the originals Soft Maple body, sleek Hard Rock Maple neck with Ebony fingerboard and Kahler vibrato. While the early Rampage had locking nut designed by Leo Fender, Jerry modded his necks to fit a beefier Floyd Rose locking nut. The Rampage Jerry Cantrell has the shelf for the Floyd Rose nut engineered in for greater stability and sustain. What's more, the Kahler vibrato is slightly recessed into the body, allowing lower action than those early Rampages. Then there's the pickup. Early Rampages came equipped with a Schaller humbucker, but the Tribute Series Rampage Jerry Cantrell model has a potent Paul Gagon-designed humbucker which pairs spectacularly with the Soft Maple body.

Superhawk™: The Tribute Series Superhawk starts out with the same soft maple body and fast-playing hard rock maple neck with ebony fingerboard as the Rampage. It even shares the same bridge pickup, but adds a second pickup in the neck position as well as a 3-position pickup selector and tone control with push/pull coil split. The Rampage's Kahler bridge is swapped for a G&L Saddle Lock bridge for improved comfort, stronger sustain and rock-solid tuning stability.

Superhawk™ Deluxe: The Tribute Series Superhawk starts out with the same soft maple body and fast-playing hard rock maple neck with ebony fingerboard as the Rampage. This axe is all about capturing the Jerry Cantrell feel while offering more tonal versatility. Superhawk Deluxe brings on a dark yet upscale vibe with the addition of a deep Blueburst finish over flame maple veneer on the soft maple body.
