Doheny Tiki Limited Edition
While Tiki evolved from Polynesian culture, it's been a mainstay of California lifestyle since the 60s, embodied in everything from music to fashion.
Another California staple is the work of Leo Fender† and now his G&L® company is releasing a limited run of its Doheny™ model in collaboration with Palm Springs-based artist CLee (pronounced cee lee) Sobieski. Sobieski is well known in the community of Tiki aficionados and has been plying his trade as a self-taught artist since arriving from Hawaii in his youth. His skill is totally self-taught and he “freehands” every piece he produces. Therefore, even though the 60-piece run will come in 2 designs, each one will be a unique, artist created piece.
The Doheny has become a best seller in the G&L Line and these special editions feature a select alder body, maple neck with Ebony or Maple fingerboard, 25.5-inch scale, G&L Dual Fulcrum vibrato and G&L wide-bobbin MFD™ single coil pickups. As with all G&L instruments it is a joy to play and hear, but now also a collectible art piece.
The Doheny Tiki Limited Edition is available in the following finishes:
- Miami Blue over Alder, Maple fingerboard, Clear Satin neck finish, Hula Art by CLee Sobieski
- Graphite Metallic over Alder, Ebony fingerboard, Clear Satin neck finish, Mermaid Art by CLee Sobieski
