MJ-4
Evolution is about enhancing and expanding desirable traits while reducing unwanted traits. That was Leo Fender’s† mission for G&L, and that’s exactly what the new MJ-4™ accomplishes The active MJ-4 features G&L’s new Bi-coil Alnico V pickups and MJ-spec preamp/control system for a wide range of single-coil tones from classic jazz to far beyond, all without single-coil hum.
A G&L Alnico Bi-coil pickup looks just like a classic Alnico single-coil, but under the cover are two side-by-side coils, configured in series-humbucking mode. The new pickups are optimized for a specially tuned version of G&L’s studio-quality M-spec preamp and control system, dubbed MJ-spec. The 18v system features volume, pan and +/-14dB 3-band EQ with center detents, and is powered by twin 9v batteries housed in an easy-access compartment. With an LF442 chip, 100v poly caps, 1% metal film resistors and big, fat signal traces on the mil-spec circuit board, this preamp reveals everything the player and the instrument have to offer.
• G&L Bi-coil pickups for classic tone without the hum
• MJ-spec studio-quality 18v preamp
• Primary volume and pan controls to explore the full range of sounds available between the two pickups
• +/-14dB 3-band EQ with peripherally placed, center-detent, reduced-diameter knobs
• An impeccable, familiar “feel” of the instrument in the hands and on the shoulder
• 1 5/8” nut-width, medium C neck neck profile
• Medium-Jumbo, Plek-dressed frets

Rampage Jerry Cantrell Signature Mo...
Rampage: Jerry Cantrell's Original Weapon
Twenty-something years ago, Jerry Cantrell bought his first G&L Rampage while working at a Dallas music store, and he still rocks ‘em hard today. The Rampage Jerry Cantrell takes all that he loved about his favorite early Rampages and adds mods to dial it in even more.
Rampage shares the originals Soft Maple body, sleek Hard Rock Maple neck with Ebony fingerboard and Kahler 2320 vibrato. While the early Rampage had locking nut designed by Leo Fender, Jerry modded his necks to fit a beefier Floyd Rose locking nut. The Rampage Jerry Cantrell has the shelf for the Floyd Rose nut engineered in for greater stability and sustain. What's more, the Kahler vibrato is slightly recessed into the body, allowing lower action than those early Rampages. Then there's the pickup. Early Rampages came equipped with a Schaller humbucker, but the Rampage Jerry Cantrell model has one of Jerry's favorite humbuckers, a Seymour Duncan JB which pairs spectacularly with the Soft Maple body.
Want the closest thing to Jerry's favorite old Rampage? Check out the Limited Edition Blue Dress Rampage. Yes, they're all sold, but you just might find one someday. Want the Cantrell tone but with more versatility? Check out the Superhawk Jerry Cantrell.

When Leo Fender† launched the G&L L-2000™ bass in 1980, it was clear he was ready to make history all over again. Never before had such a wide range of tones come from a single bass, and throughout its evolution the iconic L-2000 has continued to win the hearts of bassists of every style and musical taste.

Superhawk Deluxe Jerry Cantrell Sig...
Jerry's New G&L Shares Rampage DNA
Twenty-something years ago, Jerry Cantrell bought his first G&L Rampage while working at a Dallas music store, and he still rocks ‘em hard today. But what Jerry didn’t discover at the time was the G&L Superhawk, a hard-charging model like the Rampage but equipped with twin ‘buckers. That’s changed and so will rock history.
It’s been well over two decades since a G&L Superhawk was last produced. Now G&L is proud to announce the launch of the Superhawk Jerry Cantrell Signature Model, available in two USA-made versions as well as a surprisingly affordable G&L Tribute Series version.
This Superhawk starts out with the same soft maple body and fast-playing hard rock maple neck with ebony fingerboard as the Rampage. It even shares the same Seymour Duncan JB pickup in the bridge position, but adds a Seymour Duncan ’59 in the neck position as well as a 3-position pickup selector and tone control with push/pull coil split. The Rampage’s Kahler bridge is swapped for a G&L Saddle Lock bridge for improved comfort, stronger sustain and rock-solid tuning stability. This axe is all about capturing the Jerry Cantrell feel while offering more tonal versatility.
After decades of playing Ivory-colored G&L Rampages, Jerry was looking to add some flair to the mix of G&Ls he plays on stage. Superhawk Deluxe answers that call, adding a premium flamed maple top to the soft maple body, with a choice of Blueburst or Blackburst finishes and chrome hardware for contrast. Look for these on the 2013 Alice In Chains tour.
